Superintendent Susie Hedalen Responds to Federal Grant Funding Release
Helena, MT – Superintendent of Public Instruction Susie Hedalen today issued the following statement in response to the U.S. Department of Education’s announcement that federal education funding will begin being released the week of July 28, 2025:
“We have remained confident that these funds would be released in a timely manner. As districts approach key budget deadlines, the Office of Public Instruction will continue to work closely with schools to support planning and implementation. We appreciate the Department’s thorough review and release of these important resources.”
The Department of Education will begin releasing allocations for the current federal and education fiscal year for the following formula programs:

Title I-C, ESEA: Migrant Student Education

Title II-A, ESEA: Supporting Effective Instruction State Grants

Title III-A, ESEA: English Language Acquisition

Title IV-A, ESEA: Student Support and Academic Enrichment State Grants
Additionally, Department of Education has issued Grant Award Notifications (GANs) for the following programs:
- Title I, Part A
- Title I, Part D
- McKinney-Vento Homeless Education
- IDEA, Part B
- IDEA, Part C
- Title IV Part B
- Rural and Low-Income Schools (Rural-V)
- Perkins (Career and Technical Education)
These formula programs provide vital support for Montana’s students, educators, and schools. The Office of Public Instruction (OPI) will ensure timely distribution and guidance to local districts.
