- The Montana Board of Public Education convened in July to review the Math Content Standards Proposals. OPI staff presented the most significant changes to the Board, and the adoption process is moving forward.
- Guidance documents are being created and made available to the public as soon as they complete final drafting. While the OPI must await the Board of Public Education’s final approval to proceed with some documents, drafts of documents minimally impacted by perspective changes are available on the OPI Website, with additional items in development. To stay up to date on these activities, and to access guidance documents, please visit the Mathematics Revision Website.

Be on the lookout for exciting new episodes where we will discuss topics that come directly from the field and address things such as educator self-care, the power of mentorship, overcoming burnout, as well as acceleration vs. remediation, differentiation, and yes, things like standards and instruction too!

Data Talks: The Process
It is important for school staff to understand data literacy and the importance of data literacy in relation to student achievement. School staff should collaboratively establish a clear plan for measurable targets of progress based on data analysis. As a result of completing this course, districts will be more focused on strategic planning, decision-making, and improving educational outcomes. Districts will cultivate a culture of continuous improvement by regularly reviewing and reflecting on data, adjusting strategies as needed, and celebrating successes.
SMART Goals for Your School
This course will help you gain a basic understanding of what SMART Goals are and why the use has been employed since the 1960s. Learn about the effectiveness of SMART Goals, the components of a SMART Goal, and where to start with your goal formation through the use of a School Needs Assessment. You'll even break your goal into actionable steps.
MAST and The Hub
The MAST team and Hub team have partnered to support schools and educators in MAST implementation. Soon you will be able to learn more about implementing MAST at your school site. These online courses will not only provide a foundational understanding of the assessment but will serve as a resource for educators to access throughout the school year.
