For most Montana schools, August means a return to our buildings and classrooms. OPI appreciates all you do to support gifted students and meet their unique needs. Please reach out with ways we can support YOU in your efforts!

As you create your plans and lessons for this year, why not incorporate EdReady Montana? It is part of the Montana Digital Academy and is COMPLETELY FREE to all Montana teachers. It is ONLINE and can be part of a blended or flipped classroom model as well as an element in a rotation or station model.
Use it to:
- fill in potential gaps from acceleration
- enrich and extend student learning
- challenge independent students who thrive on setting and achieving goals
EdReady Montana has a full array of units for:
- grades 4-12 math
- grades 8-12 ELA
Discovery Education is providing two full days of FREE professional learning to all teachers, administrators, and other educators working in Montana Public Schools. The events will be held in Miles City on August 6 at Miles Community College and in Helena on August 8 at the University of Montana, Helena campus. Plan for a full day of learning about Discovery Education Experience, DreamBox Learning, Science within Discovery Education Experience, and Mystery Science. -Time: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm MST -Discovery Education will provide lunch and snacks throughout the day! -OPI renewal credits will be offered. Coordinator's Corner
Does your school use a MTSS, RtI, or PBIS tiered framework? The book, RtI for Gifted Students, is a great resource that includes charts, checklists, graphics, and research. It explains and illustrates how gifted learners can be incorporated into RtI and its related models.

If you are a new coordinator or GT program lead in your building or district (within the past 5 years), please email Jenny Jarvis, GT Program Support Specialist with your contact information. OPI can provide GT program support and professional development for you, the teachers at your school, your administration, and your school board.

Have you taken the course Introduction to Twice Exceptional Students in the OPI Teacher Learning Hub? If you work with advanced students, this is a great way to increase your knowledge of gifted students with disabilities while earning renewal units. Search for this course under the Universal Instructional Strategies section.

There is even a link to a full Gifted Education Training Site filled with helpful resources to make your program for gifted and advanced learners the best it can be! Find the GT section on the OPI website by going to the Educators tab, then Teaching and Learning, then Gifted, Talented, & AP. Be sure to check out The Montana Gifted and Talented Program Planning Guide on the website (link below as well) which is a treasure trove of information!
