Superintendent Arntzen to Host Community Discussions on Innovative Assessments
HELENA – Superintendent Arntzen and New Meridian are hosting nine community roadshow discussions on the innovative Montana Aligned to Standards Through-Year (MAST) program for parents, community members, teachers, and school leaders from April 2-12, 2024. The MAST Roadshow discussions will focus on:
- The purpose and research of through-year assessments
- Learning about the MAST model
- Preparing for 2024-2025 assessments
- Offering technical support for administering testlets
- Offering feedback on score reports
“Montana is leading the nation in meaningful innovative assessments,” said Superintendent Elsie Arntzen. “The MAST program connects teaching and learning to measure student achievement more accurately. This roadshow is a great opportunity for parents, families, and community members to engage in the future of our children’s education.”
“This has been a truly collaborative effort and an honor to work with such visionary, innovative leaders in Montana who are committed to helping teachers, students, and families get more value out of their state assessment system,” said New Meridian CEO Arthur VanderVeen. “We appreciate the dozens of districts, hundreds of educators, and 20,000 students who piloted MAST last year and this year to inform its design, develop the Testlets, and provide feedback throughout the process. We are very much looking forward to the next phase of the work as we now help prepare the rest of the state to transition to MAST next year.”
