AIM Data Collections
The AIM Data Collection Schedule contains a complete list of all AIM data collections occurring throughout the year. The following AIM Data Collections are conducted in April/May/June, and are due as follows:
Math, English/Language Arts, Science Test Registration, through 5/24/2024 Assessment registration begins in January, with regular updates from the OPI to the test portal. Please review enrollment, demographic, and program participation information (including English Learners and Special Education) for students in grades 5-8 regularly during this time period.
Test Window Enrollment and Program Participation, through 5/24/2024 The Test Window Enrollment and Program Participation is not a formal collection, but districts need to maintain this information throughout the test window. This includes Free/Reduced meal status (FRAM), English Learner (EL), Homeless, Title I, Military-Connected, Foreign Exchange, Section 504, and Race/Ethnicity. Verify that completed ERs and IEPs are locked. Maintain enrollment records, including enrollment in MT Youth Challenge, Job Corps, and MT Digital Academy.
End of Year Collections, through 6/21/2024 End of Year collections will be due one week earlier this year - June 21, 2024. A new collection - the End of Year TOE collection - will replace the old Compensation Expenditure TOE in TEAMS. Districts need to enter all staffing information for FY 24 by June 21st. Other collections include Enrollment, Program Participation, Attendance, Extracurricular Activities (private and homeschool students), and Behavior reports. Special Education Exiting is completed in the Special Education Portal, but data must be accurate in Infinite Campus. More information on these collections will be posted on the AIM webpage and in the State User Announcements within Infinite Campus.
Other Reminders
Assessment Reminders:
To ensure that appropriate accommodations are given, please verify that all Section 504 and English Learners (EL) students are identified in Infinite Campus (under Program Participation). Accommodations for individual students should be entered on the State Assessment tab. To view accommodations for Section 504 and EL students - as well as those indicated in an Individualized Education Program (IEP) - use the State Assessment Report (located under MT State Reporting).
Infinite Campus User Groups:
Infinite Campus will be hosting user groups the week of April 15th. Locations for the Spring groups are Missoula, Kalispell, Choteau, and Livingston. Click here for more information and registration information: Register Now [click.e.infinitecampus.com].
New Early Literacy Program:
In 2023, the Montana legislature passed the Early Intervention Act (HB 352), designed to improve the number of students reading proficiently by third grade. There are three interventions that districts may offer eligible students: Classroom-based, home-based, and jumpstart programs (summer). Program information may be found here: Early Literacy Resources (mt.gov)
There will be specific reporting requirements within Infinite Campus, including calendar setup requirements. More information and training will be coming soon. Please watch the AIM webpage and the State User Announcements within Infinite Campus for more information.
AIM Reporting Cohort Data - Date First Entered 9th Grade:
Please ensure all high school students have their Date First Entered 9th Grade field populated under the Graduation Tab. Use the Data Validation Reports in Infinite Campus to assist with data verification.
AIM Student Photos Needed:
Please remember to collect the Student Photo Opt-In information from parents as register their students. Districts are required to provide information on the repository and information about how to opt in (20-7-1317, MCA). Districts must then upload the students’ photos into Infinite Campus, so the photos in AIM with the Opt-in value can be used by the Department of Justice to help find missing children. See our AIM District Student Photo Repository user guide for additional information.
Updating AIM Contact Information:
Please update your AIM contacts whenever there is a change in AIM staff or AIM contact info at your district or school. Instructions may be found on the AIM webpage.

Behavior/Discipline Reporting and Validation
REMINDER…Districts are strongly encouraged to input behavior data throughout the year and to periodically run Data Validation Reports in AIM/Infinite Campus to review incidents and address potential data issues before the end of the school year.
NOTE…Validation reports for Behavior data reporting are available in AIM/Infinite Campus and can be reviewed at any time during the school year and before certification. Behavior Certification for the 2023-24 school year will open on Monday, 5/13/24, and close on Friday 6/21/24.
FYI…all Montana public schools, including the Montana School for the Deaf & Blind (MSDB), must enter discipline data into their local AIM/Infinite Campus site. Behavior data collected by the OPI is used to meet federal reporting requirements for the U.S. Department of Education.
Behavior reporting encompasses any event that takes place from July 1 through June 30 and:
- Results in an out‐of‐school suspension or expulsion, regardless of the length of time, for any enrolled student; or
- Results in an in‐school suspension, regardless of the length of time, for an enrolled student with a disability* or enrolled in a 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC).
* In‐school suspensions can also be entered for general education students; however, the OPI will only include the special education events required for federal reporting.
Reporting deadline is June 21, 2024
