Monthly IEFA Energize Sessions
Starting Tuesday September 5th, the OPI IEFA Unit will be offering a one-hour IEFA Energize Session the first Tuesday of every month. These will run from 4:00-5:00 pm and will showcase new information, fun IEFA games, model lessons, background knowledge building, and an opportunity to ask questions or request technical support. The IEFA staff will also provide you an opportunity to offer feedback and help us better support your IEFA needs. Additionally, we would like to share some of our plans for upcoming virtual offerings and special events and initiatives. This will be an hour each month to have some fun, learn more about IEFA implementation, and help us understand how we can better support you. One renewal unit will be offered for each session attended. Each month, there will be a special theme that covers topics such as the Essential Understandings, Native American Heritage Month, Tribal Sovereignty, Treaties, and Seasonal Rounds. Each event will begin at 4:00 p.m. sharp the first Tuesday of each month at the following Zoom link:

2023-24 IEFA Grant Opportunities
The OPI IEFA unit will be offering a limited number of discretionary grants to interested schools during the 2023-24 school year. This year, preference will be given to schools that are interested in the following focus areas:
- Student exchanges between Native and Non-Native schools or schools from different reservations
- Teachers that would like to develop and/or pilot curriculum or other resources that would augment sustainable IEFA implementation.
Successful grants will require a solid plan that has been discussed with the OPI IEFA staff before submission. We find grants are most impactful if there is a solid understanding of the goals and objectives and a strong working relationship with the individuals involved. For schools interested specifically in the student exchange option, there is a guidance document on the OPI IEFA website that outlines the process, tips, ideas, etc....
Schools interested in applying for grant funds in the coming year should contact Jennifer Stadum at 406-444-0725 or Zach Hawkins at 406-444-0708
