Regional Career Coaches
To date, seven people have been hired as Montana Ready Regional Career Coaches. They are located in and will perform their duties in the areas surrounding these communities:
· Polson
· Lolo
· Townsend
· Bozeman
· Roberts
· Lewistown
· Great Falls
To enhance and build the Montana Ready Initiative, each Regional Career Coach will:
- Be the “face” of the Office of Public Instruction across Montana by playing an active, instrumental role in helping Montana narrow our skills gap, meet the demands for a quality future workforce, and strengthen our economic development.
- Work with school districts, students, CTE teachers, CTSOs, Adult Education, and the CTAE division of the OPI to assist with Work-Based Learning in career awareness, exploration, preparation, and launch.
- Help develop and maintain partnerships with the Montana Department of Labor and Industry and other state agencies, the military, private businesses, and other pertinent stakeholders to create career pathway opportunities for students, which will lead to micro-credentials and high-demand career opportunities through the Montana Ready initiative.
Hired as recently as June, the Regional Career Coaches joined an Industry Connections Seminar hosted by Dick Anderson Construction in Bozeman. There, they attended workshops presented by the Montana Department of Labor and Industry, Montana Post Secondary Education Opportunities Council, Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education, the CTAE Division of the OPI, the Montana Chamber of Commerce, Dick Anderson Construction, RDO Equipment, Tri-State Equipment, Build Montana with the Montana Contractors Association, the Montana Primary Care Association, Montana Manufacturing Extension, and Billings School District Career Coach Director.
The focus of the seminar was to educate all who attended on the importance of learning from state agencies, associations, and the private sector what is needed in Montana’s workforce. The Regional Career Coaches can then take this knowledge to school districts across the state to help our educators better understand and teach students the needs in the world of work.
