Superintendent Arntzen Thanks Dick Anderson Construction for Hosting Regional Career Coach Training
HELENA – Superintendent Arntzen is thankful for the Montana Ready partnership with Dick Anderson Construction to grow Montana’s workforce. Dick Anderson Construction has invited the Office of Public Instruction’s (OPI) new Career Coaches to attend the Industry Connections Seminar in Bozeman on June 27 and 28, 2023. OPI has hired seven Regional Career Coaches to assist in building the connection between Montana school districts, students, counselors, parents, teachers, and the private sector to grow a quality workforce. The Industry Connections Seminar will help the Career Coaches learn the private sector’s perspective on what is needed to grow the workforce. Other attendees include:
- RDO Equipment
- Tri State Equipment
- Montana Contractors Association
- Montana Primary Care Association
- Montana Manufacturing Extension
- Montana Chamber of Commerce
- Boeing
- Department of Labor and Industry
- Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education (OCHE)
- Montana Post-Secondary Education Opportunities Council (MPSEOC)
“My Montana Ready initiative is a partnership between the public sector and private industry to create strong pathways for career readiness,” said Superintendent Elsie Arntzen. “Our children are the future of our great state, and it is our responsibility to ensure that their future is strong. I am thankful for the partnership between my office and Dick Anderson Construction that continues to put our Montana students first.”
“Having Dick Anderson Construction host this seminar is a big step in bridging the gap between the private sector and Montana’s school districts,” said Mary Heller, OPI’s Montana Ready Director. “A study of the Post-Secondary Workforce Report published by the Department of Labor and Industry indicates that highway and building construction, medical and health care, manufacturing, finance and accounting, hospitality and tourism, early childcare, and education are among the top sectors needing a quality workforce. It’s time our public education system not only sits at the table with all these folks coming to this seminar but actively engages and learns from industry’s perspective what’s needed to grow Montana’s quality future workforce. The Regional Career Coaches will play an important and active role in this so that all of Montana wins with positive economic development.”
The Seminar will take place at the Dick Anderson Construction Facility in Bozeman, Montana from 12:00 PM on June 27 through 5:00 PM on June 28. Discussion topics will include:
- Apprenticeships
- Industry viewpoints
- Adult Education
- College Opportunities
- Dual Enrollment and Dual Credit
