Special Education Community of Practice 2022-2023
These meetings are one-hour sessions held the second Thursday of the Month from 3:30-4:30. There will be a short 10-20 minute presentation on a topic followed by a discussion around that topic. The purpose of these meetings is to provide technical assistance and support for Special Education teachers as well as help build a network for teachers throughout Montana. With 27 years of experience in the field, she has developed expertise in autism and related disorders. YETI Consulting LLC implements a model of consultation for school districts that supports learners with autism and provides training and education for those that work with people with autism.

Building Better Number Sense
Date: May 2, 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM
In-Person MSUB College of Education, Room 122
Number Sense includes basic skills that children need to learn to work fluently with numbers. Good number sense allows students to compare and order numbers, understand symbols that represent numbers, differentiate between more and less, and understand quantities. When students have good number sense they are more fluent with basic math facts and better problem-solvers! Spend the day in a hands-on workshop creating manipulatives and playing games that will be classroom ready the next day.

During the Summer Institute 2023 at MSU Bozeman, the Federal Director of OSEP, Valerie Williams will be the keynote speaker on Wednesday, June 21. Additionally, there is a scheduled Lunch and Learn opportunity for attendees to hear answers to questions submitted ahead of time pertaining to federal rules and regulations.
