 
Montana Teen Driver Safety Day is October 18th!
Parents are Partners in Driver Education
This year, October 18th is Montana Teen Driver Safety Day. This is a special day designated by the Montana State Legislature. On this day, we renew our commitment as driver educators in partnership with parents to give our next generation the lifesaving habits they need to evolve as successful drivers.
Parents, guardians, and other trusted adults are key to helping young teen drivers develop the skills and good judgment to be safe, responsible, and respectful drivers. Since so many students are studying at home right now and parents are taking an even greater role in their teen's education, we want to highlight many of the resources available to families entering this most exciting, and potentially dangerous, milestone in their lives.
The OPI's Traffic Education Office has a list of resources that can inform and inspire parents and teens year-round. They can download the Montana-based KEYS Homework guide and driving agreement, GDL driving log, Teen Driver Source practice guide, and watch award-winning videos (many created by teens) that are effective peer-to-peer teaching tools.

Celebrating Teens Who Always Buckle Up!
The 2021 Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) found that over 70% of teen drivers said they always wear a seat belt when driving. Let’s all work together to raise that number to 100% and increase safety!

National Teen Driver Safety Week: October 16-22, 2022
Now in its 15th year, National Teen Driver Safety Week is dedicated to raising awareness and seeking solutions to prevent teen injuries and deaths on the road. Click on the graphic to learn more about the "No Keys Until You Know the Rules" national campaign.
