TeachMT FAQ for Districts

Please review the Frequently Asked Questions for information on the new licensure system. This information can also be found on the Educator Licensure webpage.

Changes to Note:

1. You no longer need to contact the OPI about a new hire. You will add them as "staff" in TeachMT. TeachMT utilized the data available within the TEAMS system to staff as many educators as we could. This will occur each spring in the February/March timeframe. However, you can make corrections to your staff within TeachMT as needed. Instructions are in the help section.

2. Emergency Authorization of Employment applications are now available on TeachMT. See below for more information.

3. Districts can see where employees are in the licensing process through TeachMT. Applications are evaluated as they are received.

Emergency Authorization of Employment

Please view the User Guide for completing an Emergency Authorization through Teach MT.

Changes to Note:

1. Criminal history background checks need to be completed by the applicant for the purpose of
the Office of Public Instruction. We will no longer be able to accept a letter from the school
district on behalf of the applicant.

2. The applicant will complete the payment and submit the application. It is up to the district if they choose to reimburse the fee to the applicant.

3. Remember new rule changes have opened up pathways to obtain licensure in Montana. EAEs may not be your only option!
