USDA announced the award of over $7 million in FY 2022 Team Nutrition Training Grants to State agencies that administer the National School Lunch Program. Eight States will use these grants to help build and retain a strong school nutrition workforce and implement transitional meal pattern standards during the upcoming school year. It provides guidance for calculating the nutrient analysis of menus offered in the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program. This manual is designed to help Program operators plan and execute their nutrient analyses.

This resource provides key food safety practices and information for school nutrition professionals to consider in various emergency situations to ensure the safe service of school meals and reduce the risk of foodborne illness. Emergencies caused by disasters and weather-related events are addressed including power outages, water outages, water contamination, sewage issues, floods, and fires.
USDA is committed to providing nutrition assistance to hard-hit families across the country due to the coronavirus pandemic. In support of President Biden’s call to action on hunger, USDA announced that it is increasing the Pandemic EBT benefit by approximately 15 percent, providing more money for low-income families and millions of children missing meals due to school and child care closures.
