New Licensure System Coming This Year!
The Montana State Educator Information System (MSEIS) is getting ready to upgrade to a more efficient, user-friendly licensing system. We are excited to provide an enhanced system designed with the educator in mind, offering each educator a streamlined application process starting June 1, 2022.
In preparation for this upgraded system, we need to let you know a few key dates about new applications and renewals.
There are 2 options for Renewals during the transition phase:
- Starting January 1, 2022 you can mail a paper application and payment to:
- Montana Office of Public Instruction
Attn. Educator Licensure PO Box 202501 Helena, MT 59620
- Starting June 1, 2022 you can submit your online renewal application.
- Any renewal units or college/university credits you have entered into the Professional Development section in MSEIS will be transferred to the new system as part of your State educator record. Be sure to keep your original renewal unit certificates in case your renewal application is audited when you apply for your license renewal.
There are 3 options for Fall 2021 Montana College and University Graduates during the transition phase:
- Continue to submit your online application and upload your supplemental documents through the end of this year.
- Starting January 1, 2022 you can submit a paper application for initial licensure.
- The Montana college or university representative will continue to be able to complete the University Recommendation through MSEIS.
- Starting June 1, 2022 you can submit your online application.
There are 2 options for New Applications, Upgrades & Reinstatements during the transition phase:
- Continue to submit your online application and upload your supplemental documents through the end of this year.
- Starting January 1, 2022 you can submit a complete paper application for initial licensure.
