Unpacking The Essential Understandings Hub Course

This facilitated Teacher Learning Hub course is geared towards K-12 Teachers and Administrators. Learners will unpack the Essential Understandings Regarding Montana Indians to strengthen their understanding and help them improve their implementation. Resources provided include video clips, primary source documents, and more. Best suited for K-12 teachers currently in the classroom. IEFA Lesson Plan Contest
The authors of Elk Morning Counts His First Coup, A. J. Otjen, Bessie Crooked Arm, and Sabrena Half are sponsoring an IEFA model lesson plan contest for teaching the book. They are offering five $100 prizes for the best lesson plans. Submitted lessons must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Include relevant ELA and Social Studies Content Standards
- Reference the Essential Understandings Regarding Montana Indians
- Include accurate Crow tribal specific information
- Identify print resources and links to legitimate on-line resources to support instruction
- Lesson plans must be submitted in Word using 12 pt. Calibri font.
- Utilize these four headings for outlining the lesson

- Goals and Standards
- Instructional Strategies
- Bibliography and Resources
Submit lesson plans via email by January 27, 2022, to Mike Jetty at mjetty@mt.gov.
