      2. Jeremy Bullock Safe Schools Summit-

Please join us, along with your friends and peers to work with experts from Montana and the Nation as we discuss and advance best practices for student and educator safety and creating safe school environments. With a theme of School Safety – Post Covid Re-group and Re-energize, this statewide Summit is designed for school safety teams, educators, school nurses, mental health professionals, law enforcement, and emergency and disaster preparedness coordinators.

The Safe School Summit has been established in memory of Jeremy Bullock following his tragic death at Margaret Leary Elementary School in Butte, Montana. Jeremy was the unintended victim of a school shooting on April 12, 1994.  As a family, State and Nation, we have seen these tragedies continue.  We have an ongoing goal of working towards having all children feel safe as they attend school and growing as strong citizens of Montana. No one person, department, organization or State can solve the problem of student safety in schools.  It literally takes a Village, which is where all of you as participants in this Summit are of critical importance.

The primary outcomes of this Summit are to bring together school professionals, law enforcement and mental health professionals to assist you in preparation for the full school year in dealing with Post-Covid issues, as well as developing and advancing your School Safety Plan(s). You will learn, interact, and network with your colleagues and key stakeholders from around the State.

Workshops are structured to discuss cybersecurity, human trafficking and threat mitigation from law enforcement, hear from mental health resources on emotional well-being, and Tribal, Montana and National education professionals on multi-tiered safe school approaches. You will bring home resources to continue to fund, develop, improve, collaborate and advance your own school safety plans.  Continuing education credits are available.
