PLP Insider for July 2020

Big Idea #1 - Reopening Montana Schools Guidance

The OPI published the Reopening Montana Schools Guidance document on July 2, 2020. Professional learning providers and educational leaders play a pivotal role in helping our schools prepare for the 2020-2021 school year. We encourage you to read the guidance and to consider the scenarios outlined while you plan to provide professional learning for Montana’s educators.

Big Idea #2 - Attention School Leadership: Did You Know You Can Become an Approved OPI Renewal Unit Provider?

The OPI Professional Learning staff would like to remind school leadership (Pre-K through higher education, public and private) that it is easy to become an approved OPI renewal unit provider. Approved OPI renewal unit providers are able to issue OPI renewal unit certificates for Montana educators as long as the renewal unit activity follows the criteria set in the Administrative Rules of Montana. To find out more, please visit our Professional Learning - Administrators’ website.

Big Idea #3 - Converting In-Person Training into Online Training

One of the most frequent questions we have answered over the past few months is “How do I take my professional learning opportunity and transform it for a virtual space?” There are a multitude of considerations to examine, and these considerations are not unique to educator professional learning. Rocky Mountain Public Health Training Center has created a free online course to help guide you through some of the decision-making processes you may need to evaluate when moving professional learning online
