The NEA Foundation is providing grants to help support school initiatives to adapt to the unique challenges presented by COVID-19. Grants will be awarded in May and June and can vary from $1500-$5000, based on the narrative describing the school’s efforts to deal with COVID-19. Funding is intended to support initiatives beginning this summer and include things such as:
- Addressing the social and emotional needs of educators, students, and students’ families;
- Learning new pedagogy and/or adapting curricula to support distance/virtual learning and instruction;
- Addressing students’ summer learning loss;
- Preparing for the transition back to traditional schooling or adapting to continued virtual schooling;
- Supporting students’ and parents’/caregivers’ efforts to support their children’s learning (via virtual class instruction or summer enrichment activities); and
- Meeting the nutritional needs of students who rely on school meals and school-based summer feeding programs.
Final submission of grant applications ends on Thursday, June 11 at 11:59 PM EST. Applications will be reviewed on a biweekly basis, starting May 14, 2020. See all grant details and submission information on NEA’s COVID-19 Rapid Response Grants page.

The Montana Learning Center (MLC) has partnered with the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill in a new astronomy venture. MLC has joined Skynet, an international robotic telescope network based at the university. The partnership will allow Montana teachers and students to have access to telescopes across the world, including places like Chile and Australia, while the university will have access to the center's telescope in New Mexico.
