Thursday, January 23, 2020, marks the 150th commemoration of the Marias Massacre, where Piikuni (Blackfeet) Chief Heavy Runner and his camp were attacked on the Marias River by U.S. Army troops under the command of Major Eugene Baker. The Montana Historical Society has resources to teach this tragedy in a culturally responsive way to high school students. Visit the society's website to view the resources.
The Museum of Flight's Western Aerospace Scholars is looking for sophomores to participate in the program. The deadline to participate in the program is Friday, February 14, 2020. The students can earn college credit from the University of Washington as part of the program. Visit the museum's website for registration information.
