The Young Adult Library Services Association of the American Library Association polls teen book clubs across the country for nominations for the association's Best Teen Books, and then lets teens across the country pick the top ten list. This year, 25 books made the list, including some that deal with tough topics. Visit the American Library Association's website to view the list of preliminary finalists. Voting for the top ten finalists is open until October 15, 2019. Readers ages 12 to 18 are allowed to vote for up to three books. The top ten teen books will be announced on October 16, 2019.
New Classrooms Innovation Partners is hosting a free online personalized learning workshop Wednesday, September 18, at 1 pm. The hour-long workshop will discuss personalized, competency-based instruction, as well as ideas for personalized instruction models at your school. Sometimes, it is difficult to meet the needs of all students, especially when the students vary in their degrees of understanding. Two high school teachers came up with the idea of making their own instructional videos, which allows the students to learn at their own pace while giving the teachers more time to help those students who need it most.
