If you still need your CSLP Manual code for 2026 Summer Reading please make sure to request it!
Hello Montana public librarians!
As you're planning your summer reading program, you should know that the National Library Service can support your patrons with audio and braille books that follow the CSLP theme! Anyone who is blind, low-vison, or has a physical or reading disability that makes reading regular print difficult are eligible for this library service.NLS is also planning their own summer reading program and it's open to Montana Talking Books' patrons of all ages. They will have at-home activities and virtual author talks that can supplement your summer reading programming. If you have questions please contact mbennett@mt.gov

CyberMT Safety tip:
Across Montana, a common scam involves people trying trick you into paying them money through text messages or emails pretending they are a government official.
This scam comes in many forms. Sometimes, scammers will claim to be a state agency trying to get you to pay unpaid toll payments or vehicle registration fees. Other times, they will claim to be police trying to collect fines from you failing to attend jury duty.
The first step to avoiding these scams is to not panic. The scammers want you to rush into action and pay them without thinking carefully about whether their story makes sense or validating it with the agency they claim to represent. Instead, carefully think through whether the fees you’re being presented with make sense. You can also look up online whether a scam involving the agency that contacted you is circulating in your area.
If you’re uncertain, you can validate any fees with the agency involved. When you do this, independently look up contact information for the agency and call them about the message.
Don't use the contact information the scammer provided. That might just lead you back to them. To learn more about staying safe from scams and other cybersecurity threats, visit cybermontana.org or contact info@cybermontana.org.
As part of America 250 the Second Lady has launched a 2026 Summer Reading Challenge. This challenge takes place between June 1st and September 4th. Kids between grades K-8th can particpate. For more information visit https://www.whitehouse.gov/read/.
The Montana State Library provides lifelong learning support to all Montanans through a combination of librarian professional development and training, program development, and meaningful partnerships.
