An updated version of the Montana CadNSDI, representing the cadastral components of the Public Land Survey System (PLSS), is now available!
The CadNSDI benefits the accuracy of the Cadastral Framework, the Administrative Boundaries Framework, and other Montana framework datasets built upon PLSS geography. These datasets are currently in progress of being adjusted to align with the latest CadNSDI.
From 2023-2025, 281 townships across 15 counties were adjusted with survey control, much of which was collected using Montana Geospatial Information Act (MGIA) grant funds. Multiple federal surveys and geodetic control were also incorporated in collaboration with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the U.S. Forest Service (USFS).
A web map is available to visualize the shift between the 2023 and 2025 CadNSDI and the distance the data was shifted.
