In the mid-1990's, the Montana State Genealogical Society created a program to document and honor the lives of our state's earliest residents. The First Families and Early Settlers of Montana program is open to anyone who can prove descent (either directly or through a sister or brother of a direct ancestor) from a resident of what is now the State of Montana during one of the following time periods:
First Families of Montana - Arrived before statehood on 8 November 1889 Early Settlers of Montana - Arrived between 9 November 1889 and 31 December 1929
This collection consists of the application forms and lineage charts for each person or couple who is certified under the First Families and Early Settlers of Montana program. These documents will be an invaluable resource for anyone researching Montana genealogy.
The Montana State Genealogical Society makes no guarantee as to the accuracy or completeness of this collection. Additional research may reveal conflicting information.
