Montana Historic Newspaper Collections
- 10:00 - 10:30 a.m.
- Tuesday, May 14
- .5 credit - Library Services to the Public
The Montana Historical Society (MTHS) recently completed two digitization projects with Newspapers.com and the Library of Congress that improve and expand access to historical Montana newspapers. There are now millions of pages of Montana newspapers available with obituaries, marriage announcements, and other information just a few clicks away. Many more newspapers are available at MTHS on microfilm and available through Interlibrary Loan.
In this presentation, learn about what digitized Montana newspapers are available, where to access them, and how to best help researchers, students, and other users find information. Demonstrations will be provided!
Presented by Dan Karalus, Montana Historical Society
Dan is the Library Manager at the Montana Historical Society. He holds a PhD in History from Northern Arizona University and has lived in Montana for over 9 years, though not all in a row.
