We also want to let you know about a new digital exhibit we just launched, about one of Montana's most renowned authors: Dorothy M. Johnson. Her works include the legendary westerns The Hanging Tree, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, and A Man Called Horse. Her works were so popular that several were made into major motion pictures. Johnson, seen below at at a book signing for The Hanging Tree, ended her long career in journalism as a professor at the University of Montana and secretary-manager of the Montana State Press Association. She was awarded an honorary Doctor of Letters by the University of Montana in 1973. We hope you will check out our new digital exhibit and help celebrate the life of this exceptional Montana author during Women's History Month.
