Migrating Zoho to New Help Desk System
In the coming months the MSC will migrate our current ticket system and knowledge base articles to a new help desk system. This transition is part of a statewide roll-out of a unified support system across all state agencies. One immediate benefit is we will be able to offer a single support system across all MSL divisions to improve cross-program communication and support.
We have begun behind-the-scenes work to prepare for us this move. Watch for more information in upcoming updates.
Enterprise Maintenance Wednesday, January 24
Enterprise will be unavailable for approximately one hour for scheduled maintenance starting Wednesday, January 24 at 2:00 am.
A notice will be posted on Enterprise informing patrons about this maintenance.
Missing User Account
Each library currently has their own individual Missing User account that is set in the properties of the ‘Mark Item Missing’ wizard. The system also has an admin Missing User account that in the past was set as the default for that wizard. There are items on the admin account that we will be moving to individual library Missing User accounts over the next week.
If you have been using the BLUEcloud Analytics (BCA) 'Missing List' report, these items have been listed in the report results since that report is based on MISSING status and not on specific user accounts. However if you have been reviewing your missing items using your individual Missing User account in Workflows, these items may not have been listed to be searched for or handled according to your library’s procedure. We do recommend that you search for and either replace or discard MISSING items regularly. If you’d like information on automation options to help manage your missing items, please open a help desk ticket.
Item Category 1 Options
MSC Staff have recently reviewed the item cat 1 of PLAYAWAY to see if there is a better way to include items that are not branded Playaway but are very similar in nature. Because of limitations in how long a name can be in the backend of the system and a lengthy discussion, we recommend using PLAYAWAY as an item cat 1 for any item that is a pre-loaded mp3 audiobook on a portable listening device. We have updated the description to reflect this more general use.
We have also added the new Item Category 1 option of ‘Video game’. If you’d like to have this option in your dropdown menu and/or batch change items to have this new item category, please open a help desk ticket.
MSC Office Hours - Friday, January 19 at 10 am & 2 pm
Join us this upcoming Friday, 1/19 at either 10 am or 2 pm for MSC Office Hours. We will be available the whole hour to troubleshoot specific issues, help brainstorm how to get a new a project started, or answer any questions you may have! Drop in for a few minutes or stay for the whole time.
