As we close out 2023 and look forward to an exciting 2024, we want to take a moment to thank all the people and organizations who make what we do possible. First of all, we want to thank the 98 organizations that we partner with as Contributors. Thanks to their hard work and collaborative spirit, we have 217 Collections available to the public, numbering over 88,000 items. This content is the heart of our program, and we thank all those who have contributed.
We also want to thank those who interact with our content in so many different ways, and those who share it out to the wider world through social media like our Facebook and Instagram. Over the past year we've expanded our programs to enable people to learn about Montana history in fun, non-traditional means. We run several contests: a writing contest, a meme contest, and beginning in 2023, a LEGO history contest. We thank all the creative and enthusiastic participants of those programs, and also the sponsors who enable us to award great prizes to the winners.
We also expanded our Adventure Lab geocaching program in 2023. This program allows users to tour a historic site or area using a free app. We use photos from the Montana History Portal to enable people to see what an area looked like long ago, and place them in the exact spot that the historic photo was taken. We have 7 Adventure Labs live around Montana, with many more planned for 2024.
We hope your 2023 has been great, and we send you our best wishes for 2024. We will bid 2023 farewell with this amusing 1902 calendar below, showing famed 19th century actor Joseph Jefferson, courtesy of Billings Public Library.
