In case you have not yet heard, I will be leaving MSL for a job in California - my last day is November 3rd. MSL staff have graciously stepped up to cover the following projects in the interim while the Lifelong Learning Librarian position is vacant. Here are the interim contacts for LLL projects:
- CSLP and Summer Reading: Colet Bartow (colet.bartow@mt.gov)
- Creative Aging Programming: Tracy Cook (tcook2@mt.gov)
- Food Programming in Libraries: Pam Henley (phenley2@mt.gov)
- MLN Virtual Programming: Bobbi deMontigny (bdemontigny@mt.gov)
We are also putting some LLL projects on pause as they would be better managed once a permanent staff person is in place. Starting November 3rd, the following LLL projects will NOT be available:
- MSL Trunk Program
- Reimagining School Readiness
- Supercharged Storytime
- Transforming Teen Services
For other general Lifelong Learning inquiries, Tracy Cook is probably the best person to reach out to. Please do feel free to reach out to me at akim@mt.gov with any questions you have before I go - happy to chat and discuss as needed!
Thank you to everyone who has hosted a virtual program so far this year! If you have not yet received the registration/attendance report, please contact Amelea Kim at akim@mt.gov before November 3rd, and Bobbi deMontigny at bdemontigny@mt.gov after November 3rd for the depersonalized files so you can record it in your public library standards. If you have questions about how to record these events in the public library standards, please reach out to Amelea Kim at akim@mt.gov before November 3rd, or Rebekah Kamp after November 3rd.
Available Registration/Attendance Reports
- September Virtual Program: Bison Archaeology of Glacier National Park
- October Virtual Program: Hauntings of Montana
If your library is interested in cohosting any virtual programs, please be sure to fill out the MLN Virtual Program Library Cohosting Survey! This will help MSL keep track of which libraries are cohosting which events, as well as which libraries are planning to host watch parties. This will allow us to more easily prepare the attendance data for cohosts for public library standards reporting.
Please fill this survey out for EACH virtual program your library would like to host. If you have any questions, please reach out to Amelea Kim or Bobbi deMontigny!
Upcoming Programs:
- Indigikitchen with Mariah Gladstone on 1/9/24
- The Lentil Underground with Liz Carlisle and David Oien on 2/15/24
As a reminder, cohosting a virtual program consists of at least ONE of the following:
- Publicizing the virtual program/registration link to your patrons through social media/flyers/etc so they can register and join individually online
- Optional: Hosting a watch party at your library, and inviting patrons to attend the watch party in-person
- Optional: Hosting a watch party at a secondary location
Library staff are welcome to join and watch, but that is no longer a requirement to cohost.
Our next virtual program is on Thursday, 11/2 from 6:30 - 8 pm, and our speaker is the author Jon Turk! Please share this information with your patrons - please fill out the survey above too, if you would like to be listed as an official library co-host of the event!
The 2024 CSLP Manual is now available! Please email Amelea Kim at akim@mt.gov if you have not yet received the PDF with the access code and directions. After November 3rd, you can email Colet Bartow for the manual access information.
The CSLP Store is now open for 2024! Feel free to check it out, especially the new T-shirt designs in more cuts, colors, and fabrics.
Save the date for the upcoming CSLP Summer Symposium on December 7th! This is a free virtual conference that will help jump start your summer reading planning. Join librarians from all over the country and brainstorm summer reading ideas together. Registration information will be released in the next month. If you can't attend live, the symposium will be recorded and links posted to the CSLP Summer Symposium webpage as well.
