Dear Colleagues,
We’ve reached day 79 and the phrase Sine Die is being heard more frequently around the Capitol.
After Senate Finance and Claims amended House Bill 91, our state aid bill, to reduce the per capita amount from $.50 to $.45, the full Senate restored to full amount found in Governor’s budget and as originally drafted. The bill awaits one more vote in the Senate before it returns to the House where they will vote on whether to concur with Senate Amendments. HB 91 has now been amended four times and the current version of the bill mirrors the bill as it was introduced.
House Bill 2, the budget bill, is scheduled for floor debate on Monday. One amendment may provide a tiny General Fund increase to the State Library to fund increased Commission compensation authorized in House Bill 314. This bill passed the Legislature and has been sent to enrolling. It must still be signed by the Governor.
