Dear Colleagues,
It’s been an exciting 24 hours. We were able to rebuff an attempt to defund the hot spot lending program in Senate Finance and Claims earlier this morning so that funding for the coming biennium remains in the State Library budget in House Bill 2. That bill will next be heard on the Senate floor next week.
Also, Senate Bill 60, our RTN legislation, is moving quickly through the House. It passed unanimously out of State Administration and Rep. Sprunger did a great job carrying it on the House floor. After a strong floor vote and a hearing in House Appropriations yesterday evening, that committee passed the bill this morning. After one more floor vote, it will head to the Governor for his signature. As a reminder, this is an agency bill that the Governor’s office supports.
Senate Bill 398, the bill that updates Montana's coordinate system, passed unanimously on 2nd reading on the House Floor this morning. It too, requires one more floor vote in the House before it is through the Legislature.
House Bill 91 has not yet been scheduled for a hearing in Senate Finance and Claims.
