Montana History Portal Highlights

The Montana History Portal provides weekly updates on new content as well as tips on how to successfully navigate the site through this Highlights newsletter. You can find back issues on the "Highlights" newsletter section of our website. 

Library and museum staff members are encouraged to share these with patrons by linking our content and programs on your website and sharing through social media.

We are excited to share our first two full-length videos uploaded to the Montana History Portal. You can find links to that below

And we have an update on the very popular Historical Picture Prompt Writing Contest! The contest closed on Friday, and we had a new record number of entries: 135 submissions from students and adults. Our judges are currently reviewing the entries, and will confer next week to determine winners. We will have an announcement on those winners soon, and will let those winners know about their great prizes from Distinctly Montana and Museum of the Rockies.

Yellowstone National Park Films and Video

This week we completed the upload of two mid 20th-century films provided by Yellowstone National Park Heritage and Research Center. The first is a circa-1950 film called The Geysers, Mudpots, and Pools of Mysterious Yellowstone. The other is called A Trip Around Yellowstone - please note that this film has no sound. These two films are the first video we have uploaded, and we are excited about the possibility of more film in the future.
