Mobile Hotspot Catalog Records
The MSC staff have created four new mobile hotspot catalog records to replace the one mobile hotspot record currently used by libraries. These four new records will help patrons and staff more easily identify the mobile hotspot carrier and if the hotspot is filtered. This change will also address an ongoing issue with placing holds in Enterprise while maintaining clean search results.
The best news is that these records are available for you to begin using today. The record titles and title control numbers are below. You can transfer your existing items by following the steps outlined in this KB article.
MSC system admins will complete the work of transferring item records on April 24.
Look for an update to our mobile hotspot cataloging KB article. Open a help desk ticket or attend our office hours for questions or help.
Thank you to the MSC CMC for their work on this!

Enterprise 336 Search Display Change
We are in the process of implementing a change to the information that displays in Enterprise search results. We’ll be adding in a new ‘Content Type’ line that describes the material so patrons can better distinguish between formats like audio books and music cds. This information will come from the 336 bib record fields. Look for these changes soon!
Patron Removal Survey - REMINDER
Spring cleaning has come early to the MSC! We’re kicking things off with our annual patron removal survey. Please let us know if you do or don’t want to remove any users that have been long inactive users of the library. Fill out the survey by this Friday - March 10th!
Curious as to know how many patrons have been long inactive users? Check out our new BLUEcloud Analytics (BCA) report, ‘User Count by Last Activity Date- Yearly' in the Shared Reports>Users>Users Counts.
MSC Office Hours - REMINDER Tuesday, March 7 at 10am and 2pm
The MSC team is trying something new as part of our efforts to increase communication and provide more opportunities for member librarians to provide feedback. We’re going to start holding “office hour” drop-in meetings where one or more of the MSC staff will be available to answer questions, discuss the news from recent update emails, and provide troubleshooting. We don’t currently have a permanent timeslot or day selected for these as we want to make sure that all members have an opportunity to attend if they wish so we’ll be making adjustments to the scheduling as we see how these go.
Our first office hours will be on Tuesday, March 7th from 10-11 am and 2-3 pm. You can join the office hours through Zoom here:
