The teachers from our MMP summer workshop have been very busy and productive, despite teaching classes. We have a few more of their projects to share with you over the next couple of weeks. Today, we'd like to spotlight a very in-depth project created by Deb Westrom. It looks at the conversion of Fort Missoula into a detention camp during World War II. The fort held several thousand "detainees" during the war. This included Japanese-Americans, as well as Italians seized from ships and the World's Fair. Through our partnership with the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula, we have hundreds of documents and photographs from this period available on the MMP. This exhibit goes through the lives and experiences of the detainees, looking at living conditions, work, and recreation. We hope you will check it out here. |
