If you have not yet requested a Bat Week package, you have until 9/30/22 to do so! You can see all the relevant information about Bat Week at the following links:
In case you missed the last Children and Youth Services Meet-Up on 9/2/22, you can watch the recording on MSL's YouTube Channel. The August topic was Summer Reading Reflection!
The next CYS Meet-Up is on 9/28/22, and the topic is School Age Programs. Please see the ASPeN Event Page for the Zoom link and more information.
CSLP is already starting to release information and resources for 2023's program, "All Together Now!". You can see a preview of the artwork by Frank Morrison in the different age-group posters above. Here is some important information and timelines to keep in mind for 2023:
- The CSLP manual will be released sometime in September. MSL has purchased online access codes for public libraries to download all manual and artwork files. I will send the code out to each library individually via email (either to the director, or the director AND the librarian who works with summer reading), so please check your email in the coming weeks for that access code!
- You can preview more of Frank's artwork at CSLP's Facebook page, as well as the CSLP Website.
- MSL will be hosting monthly Summer Reading Brainstorming sessions, starting in January, so be on the lookout for those webinars.
- Please reach out to Amelea Kim, your CSLP state rep, if you have questions about any of the CSLP materials, or about summer reading in general!
Attention Montana libraries! If any of you are looking to get involved in library efforts on a national scale, please consider joining a CSLP Committee! Sign-Ups for CSLP Committees are now open until October 3rd.
While the duties vary, committee obligations generally run for one calendar year. All committee work is done virtually; either through email, or through phone or online meetings. You can see a list of the Available Committees on the CSLP Website, as well as the How to Apply for a Committee Page.
I am planning on serving on the Theme and Slogan Committee, so if any of you want to join me there, you are welcome to throw your name into the pot!
CSLP will be hosting another national Summer Symposium for librarians all across the country to meet, learn, and brainstorm for the 2023 Summer Reading program! Any and all are welcome to attend for free.
This symposium is VIRTUAL, and will have multiple sessions and workshops for people to attend. More details and speaker confirmation will be released in the coming weeks, and registration will be opening up in October.
You can find information about 2021's Summer Symposium on the CSLP website.
If any of you are interested in attending a national conference on summer learning, the National Summer Learning Association Pre-Conference for Library Professionals might be a good fit! NSLA is offering a pre-conference day on Monday, October 24th, 2022 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C. for attendees who are interested in summer learning programs for libraries. Any library that attends can get a $200 discount.
Please see the NSLA Pre-Conference Flyer for more information, and the discount code.
