Montana Spatial Data Infrastructure News |
|
The 2021 NAIP Imagery for Montana is now available! The geospatial aerial imagery data can be downloaded as countywide mosaics in MrSID format (MG4) or accessed a via web service. The Montana Spatial Data Infrastructure (MSDI) Imagery Framework layer relies solely on the statewide imagery products produced by the US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Agricultural Imagery Program (NAIP).
NAIP 2021 marks the first NAIP acquisition to be completed in one year since 2013. Three consecutive NAIP acquisitions for Montana were disrupted due to snow or smoke and had to be acquired over a two-year period. The three statewide products were NAIP 2019 (flow in in 2019 & 2020), NAIP 2017 (flown in 2017 & 2018), and NAIP 2015 (flown in 2015 & 2016). View a comparison of the 2021 and 2019 NAIP products in the images below.
Thank you to the USDA Natural Resources and Conservation Service, their partnership ensured the NAIP 2021 is made available in a variety of formats for Montanans!
