Montana State Library Commission to Meet in Helena and Online

The Montana State Library Commission meets six times per year. Commissioners include Chair Kenning Arlitsch, appointee of the commissioner of Higher Education; Elsie Arntzen, Superintendent of Public Instruction; Tammy Hall of Bozeman, Dalton Johnson of Missoula, Kristin Kerr of Helena, Robyn Scribner of Geraldine, and Peggy Taylor of Whitefish.
At the June 14th meeting, the Commission will have a work session to discuss Executive Planning Process priorities with Interim Budget Committee Chair Rep. David Bedey. This meeting will be followed by a Donor Reception honoring Mr. George Van at the Montana State Library. No business will be conducted at the reception.
At the June 15th meeting, the Commission will receive updates and reports about the State Library from the State Librarian, the State Library’s new brand, Chapter 55 rule changes and impacts, the Network Advisory Council’s report about drafts of the Virtual Programming Policy, Montana Memory Project Collection Development Policy, and the Freedom to Read Statement, the Continuing Education Program, the Director’s Institute, and Geo-Enabled elections/9-1-1 Data Services.
At the June 15th meeting, the Commission will consider action on items in the consent agenda, Federation FY23 Plans of Service, Network Advisory Council’s nomination slate, FY23 Library Development Plan, 2023-2028 Library Services and Technology Act Plan, applicant libraries to the Montana Shared Catalog, and 2025 Biennium agency budget priorities.
Members of the public who wish to share written comment or pertinent visual materials to the Commission must submit written public comment to the State Librarian, Jennie Stapp, no later than 24 hours before the start of the public meeting.
