Montana Laboratory Forum

On July 17th, 2025, the Montana Laboratory Services Bureau (MTLSB) is hosting a virtual Montana Laboratory Forum (MLF) event from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The purpose of the MLF is to strengthen Montana’s Public Health Laboratory System. This system is a network of laboratories and laboratory partners that work together to protect the community’s health. State Public Health Laboratory System.

To ensure the success of the MLF, it is essential to have a diverse range of registrants and active partner engagement. The MTLSB requires at least 20 registrants to proceed with organizing the virtual MLF event. If you wish to attend this virtual event, kindly complete the registration form by July 8, 2025. This will allow ample time to provide the MLF handouts, accompanying materials, and an invitation to the event, which will be hosted on the MS Teams platform.

Below is a preliminary agenda for the 2025 Virtual Montana Laboratory Forum:

Morning Session: Core Functions and Updates (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM)

  • 9:00 AM - 9:30 AM:
    • Welcome and Introduction
    • Overview of the core functions of public health laboratories
  • 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM:
    • Recent updates in MTLSB services
    • Showcase of new technologies and capabilities
  • 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM:
    • Latest information on foodborne illnesses and infectious diseases
    • Current surveillance initiatives and their impact

Lunch Break (12:00 PM - 1:00 PM)

Afternoon Session: Future Planning and Improvement (1:00 PM - 3:00 PM)

  • 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM:
    • Support for surveillance initiatives
    • Hot topics in newborn screening
  • 2:00 PM - 2:45 PM:
    • Planning for the future during uncertain times
    • Breakout topics, Communication methods, Community of Practice
  • 2:45 PM - 3:00 PM:
    • Concluding remarks and wrap-up
    • Plans for future meetings and best hosting options
