E-cigarette Addiction on the Rise

  • The prevalence of young adult (ages 18 to 24) e-cigarette use has more than doubled since 2017 and is now nearly four times higher than that of adults ages 25 and older.
  • The increase in young adult e-cigarette use is likely due to the aging of those who became addicted to the product in their teens. Frequent and daily e-cigarette use among Montana high school students increased by almost 200% from 2015 to 2023, according to the Montana Youth Risk Behavior Survey.
  • Quit Now Montana provides free and confidential coaching via phone, chat, or text for Montanans who are ready to quit any form of commercial tobacco product use, including e-cigarettes.
