Colorado: Prior to the pandemic, Colorado created an online referral form for WIC services. Throughout 2020, this system proved effective with online referrals increasing by 85%. While participation trends have declined nationwide, Colorado was one of 14 State Agencies that did not experience a decrease in numbers from 2017 to 2018. In addition, the state has seen a rise in caseload of almost 4% between FY’20 and FY’23. The online system serves as the main source of referrals to the Colorado WIC program today demonstrating the effective use of technology to help improve program access. |
