Risk code 337 – History of Birth of a Large for Gestation Age Infant
- History of birth of a large for gestational age infant is defined as follows:
- Pregnant Women-Any history of giving birth to an infant weighing greater than or equal to 9 lbs. (4000 grams).

What WIC Can Do:
- Provide individualized nutrition education in an easy-to-understand format that is appropriate for the learning level of the participant/caregiver. Most education materials should be written for a 5th to 7th grade reading level. Be sensitive to the unique learning needs and style of the participant/caregiver, which may mean using food models, posters, and handouts.
- Provide referrals to medical providers, Registered Dietitians, Peer Counselors, Certified Lactation Counselors, and other services, if available, in their community.
- Providing individualized food packages, tailored to meet the needs of participants.
- Promote food choices of high nutritional quality while avoiding unnecessary or excessive amounts of calorie rich foods and beverages and reducing inactivity (like decreasing sedentary TV viewing).

Eastern Shoshone Tribe: For so many, WIC is not only a rewarding job or career, but also their passion and life's work. The small but mighty team of the Eastern Shoshone WIC Program serves as one example with a combined 90 years of service to WIC families in their community. To all who have worked in WIC over these past 50 years, and to those whose passion has made WIC their life's work, we thank you!
Northern Arapaho Tribe: Northern Arapaho WIC hosted a WIC 50 event on September 26, attended by a number of WIC families as well as community resource and referral partners, including the Wind River Cares health network. Attendees shared a traditional meal, learned about the history of WIC and celebrated its impact for the women, infants and children of the Northern Arapaho Tribe.
