January 2024
Happy New Year, Office of Faith and Community Based Services friends. January has been a weather roller coaster, but it is still beautiful in Montana any time I can get to travel the State. A couple weeks ago the OFCBS was able to host a vendor table at the Montana Ministry Network Connection Conference. The pastors and follow vendors were so welcoming and many connections where had. I look forward to many more connections in 2024, if you know of an event I should attend, give me a head up.
What are the current happenings for the Office of Faith and Community Based Services you ask? Redesigning the webpage is underway to be more user friendly for our partners and community members. One of the main goals for the webpage is to be more useful and connective for faith and community partners. We are adding an events calendar to host your events, OFCBS events, and events important to our OFCBS community Statewide.
Some big additions to the website are the additions of some very useful tools. We are adding a Faith and Community resource directory for your organization to be accessed from the OFCBS website. Register your organization today with the link below in the adds. The Child and Family Services Volunteer bill or SB163 from the 2023 legislature is nearly ready to go active. There will be a place for volunteers to register and for volunteer organizations already or looking to working with CFSD offices. We hope to have this ready in the next weeks as we are already beta testing the system and processes.
This year the OFCBS will be focusing collaborations and partnerships across the State. As I travel to meet with roundtable events, ministerial groups, and community events we will be highlighting faith and community organizations that want to grow and have a greater presence in Montana. Schedule a visit in your community and contact me for more information about highlighting your organization. Rob.lawler@mt.gov
