The Federal EMSC Program released a new set of performance measures in July 2023. Performance measures are the EMSC State Partnership Program's primary goals and serve as achievement standards for grantees. The first National EMSC Performance Measures were released in 2006, and a second set in 2017.
There are nine performance measures and two evaluative measures for State Partnership Program grantees in the April 2023–March 2027 grant cycle. Read more about the nine performance measures here.
Research has shown high pediatric readiness in emergency departments (EDs)–or scoring > 87 points on the National Pediatric Readiness Project Assessment–improves outcomes for children. Education and Training
The Child Safety Learning Collaborative brings together state and jurisdiction injury and violence prevention and maternal and child health practitioners nationwide to improve child safety among 0–19-year-olds. Participants collaborate to reduce severe and fatal injuries among infants, children, and adolescents.
The first cohort of the Child Safety Learning Collaborative will focus on:
- Bullying Prevention
- Suicide and Self-Harm Prevention
- Motor Vehicle Traffic Safety (includes Teen Driver and Child Passenger Safety)
- Sudden Unexpected Infant Death Prevention

Pediatricians can begin reserving Moderna’s new monovalent COVID-19 vaccines as they await final approval from health officials. Orders can be placed through Moderna Direct and wholesaler/distribution channels. They will be confirmed after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approves the vaccines, which is expected in the coming weeks. The AAP National Rural Adolescent and Child Health ECHO Training Center is recruiting Primary Care Clinicians and other health professionals in rural, frontier, and underserved areas who serve pediatric populations to participate in a 5-month Rural Pediatrics: Adolescent Health Communication ECHO.
The ECHO will have a Kickoff call on August 18, 2023, from 12 pm- 1 pm CT and meet on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month from 12 pm -1 pm, from September to December 2023. To learn more, view the flyer here.
The 2023 Children's Behavioral Health Learning Series focuses on the progress made in caring for children with behavioral health conditions. Designed to drive action and implementation, each session is 90 minutes long, with 60 minutes of virtual content and 30 minutes for teams to identify their organization's next steps to improve collaboration, sustainability, and care delivery across the behavioral health continuum.

Description
This program aims to recruit and train EMS personnel in rural areas with a particular focus on addressing substance use disorders (SUD) and co-occurring disorders (COD) substance use and mental disorders. Recipients will be expected to train EMS personnel on SUD and COD, trauma-informed, recovery-based care for people with such disorders in emergencies and, as appropriate, to maintain licenses and certifications relevant to serve in an EMS agency.
