National Prevention Week

  • Each year, SAMHSA’s National Prevention Week showcases the work of communities and organizations across the country dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of substance misuse prevention and positive mental health. This year, National Prevention Week will take place May 7-13.
  • Studies show that parental disapproval of underage and illicit drug, alcohol, and tobacco leads to lower rates of youths using these substances.
  • Visit the DPHHS Substance Abuse Prevention Program website to find your local prevention specialist.
