Chronic Kidney Awareness Month

Health in the 406

Chronic Kidney Disease Awareness Month

  • 37 million people in the United States are estimated to have chronic kidney disease (CKD), and as many as 9 out of 10 people with CKD are not aware.
  • CKD happens when your kidneys do not work as well and lose their ability to clean and filter your blood.  If you have high blood pressure, diabetes or both you are at the highest risk for CKD.
  • You can take steps to help protect your kidneys.  Visiting with your doctor about CKD, limiting alcohol, eating healthy meals, and being active are just a few steps to take care of your kidneys and you!
