We have discovered that some calls are not coming through to the State Office either because “all circuits are down” or they are going straight to voicemail. If you are unable to contact someone immediately, especially the help desk, please send an email as we are all working and checking them ongoing. For the helpdesk, the email is wichelp@mt.gov.
As for other updates related to WIC services during the COVID-19 outbreak, we are awaiting guidance from State DPHHS and USDA. Please stay tuned to email for updates as we have them.

On March 11, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) launched What's in it for you? [lnks.gd] — an educational campaign to accompany the updated Nutrition Facts label. The campaign provides health care professionals, middle and high school teachers, dietitians, and community leaders with resources to help consumers understand and use the new Nutrition Facts Label. It’s designed to empower consumers to make informed food choices and to adopt and maintain a healthy diet. |

What WIC Can Do:
Referrals to HCP may be necessary to determine if short stature is a result of dietary inadequacy or a disease condition. WIC staff may want more frequent follow-up to monitor growth of children in these categories. In addition, WIC staff can greatly assist families by providing referrals to medical providers and other services, if available, in their community. Such resources may provide the recommended medical assessments, in order to rule out or confirm medical conditions, and offer treatment when necessary and/or in cases where growth improvement is slow to respond to dietary interventions.
