Upgrade
2022 to 2024 Upgrade
State Kit Updater and MDT Civil 3D State Kit updates will remove all user customized data from program paths. This can also occur with Civil 3D upgrades or re-installations. The MDT Civil 3D State Kit is delivered with a storage location safe from upgrades and updates. User customized subassemblies and assemblies will require special attention. Review the support guide "Saving User Customized Civil 3D State Kit Content" for storing content safe from upgrades/updates.

Getting back to work
Civil 3D 2022 to 2024 DWG Reference Template Updates
Post-upgrade, reference template paths will need to be edited for DWG files previously created from the Start-Dwg templates using any release 2022 MDT Civil 3D State Kit for access to any current and future state kit release 2024 reference template style updates. See "Civil 3D 2022 to 2024 DWG Reference Template Updates" for further information.
Civil 3D 2022 to 2024 Subassembly Updates
Civil 3D 2024 comes with enhancements to subassembly workflows. The MDT Civil 3D State Kit has been updated to support direct links to PKT files. This will require action to maintain use of non-PKT subassemblies or to replace with PKT subassemblies in design drawings. See "Civil 3D 2022 to 2024 Subassembly Updates" for further information.
MDT Ribbons and New Tools
The MDT Civil 3D State Kit comes with a new look and more tools. "MDT Tools" and "MDT Design" ribbons are introduced with MDT Civil 3D State Kit 2.0.0. All MDT content formerly accessed directly from the MDT palettes can now be accessed from these ribbons. Many new tools introduced are a courtesy of Wisconsin and Alaska Departments of Transportation. A big thank you to them for sharing their talents with Montana design teams.
Watch for new informational videos in upcoming announcements that will provide some introduction to the new look.
Prior MDT Civil 3D State Kit versions have been delivered with template files having a coordinate system preset. This was recently updated from "MT83IF" to "NSRS11.MTIF" with MDT Civil 3D State Kit release 2022 version 1.24. The coordinate system will still need to be managed by all MDT Civil 3D State Kit users but will be defaulted to "None" to avoid unintentional complications.
You will undoubtedly notice something new when accessing the Start-Dwg templates folder that can be viewed when creating a new drawing. Speed sheets are a convenient addition for creating new drawing files having specialized model space content. Not all MDT Civil 3D State Kit drawing standard components are included in a speed sheet but may be added at any time from the "MDT Tools" ribbon "MDT Components" panel. Signing speed sheets are offered as an introduction with an expanded selection of speed sheet templates anticipated in the future.
Submit a request (linked below) if you have any questions, issues, or would like to request future state kit development. Internal MDT users may submit a case or make a request from the MDT Service Desk.
