Mississippi Businesses Against Trafficking
We recently launched a new statewide initiative, Mississippi Businesses Against Trafficking (MBAT). The goal of MBAT is to raise awareness and empower Mississippi businesses to combat trafficking. It is open to any business, nonprofit organization, or association in the state of Mississippi that is interested in promoting human trafficking awareness both internally and externally.
Sadly, human trafficking is more common in our state than people realize. I personally know victims and met with several during my time in the state legislature. Our goal is to rescue victims and ensure all Mississippians are safe from this heinous crime.
Our new MBAT website provides more information on how to get involved as well as educational resources and materials to help better understand the issues surrounding human trafficking and how to recognize it in the workplace.

82-County Tour
We are nearing completion of our 82-County Tour where we have visited with circuit clerks and election commissioners around the state. This week, we will have wrapped up 78 counties and hope to have the remaining four completed by the end of the year. While this has been an arduous task, the conversations and relationships have been phenomenal. Strengthening and growing a statewide team remains a priority to ensure free and fair elections in Mississippi.

National Voter Registration Day
On September 20, we celebrated National Voter Registration Day by hosting voter registration drives at various schools across the state. I made visits to Mississippi State University (MSU) and the Mississippi University for Women (MUW) to connect with the organizations facilitating the registration drives, recruit new voters, and thank student leaders for their efforts.
More importantly, I was proud of SOS Student Ambassador Steven Berry who assisted with voter registration drives at various schools in Simpson County including Mendenhall High School, Magee High School, and Simpson County Technical Center where nearly 100 new voters were registered.

Jackson Restaurant Tour
Amidst the Jackson water crisis, surging crime, and a host of various other issues, I joined my predecessor, Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann, in an effort to support local businesses by visiting several fantastic Jackson restaurants. It's important for the Capital City of Mississippi to thrive, and without restaurants, that couldn't be possible.
Stops during the day included Broad Street Bakery, Stamps Super Burger, Mayday Ice Cream, Native Coffee and Iron Horse Grill. We are grateful for our Jackson business owners who have weathered numerous setbacks yet continue to provide first-class customer service to patrons.
