Starting in August, Minneapolis Solid Waste and Recycling is
rolling out the the city's new curbside composting pickup for residential
customers. Rollout for the entire city should be complete by spring 2016. The
new program is an opt-in system and you can sign up right now by emailing
swrcustomer@minneapolismn.gov or calling 612.673.2917.
The new organics collection will include many items
that aren't recyclable and aren't able to be composted in
conventional backyard compost piles. Curious about what will be compostable or the rollout
schedule? Click here for more detailed
information about the program, news on the rollout, including a map, and a
signup for email updates.
Additionally, the Lynnhurst Neighborhood Association Environmental Committee
will be sponsoring a spring forum on the Minneapolis Organics Recycling
Program. All Minneapolis residents are welcome and encouraged to attend.
