August 8, 2026 (MINNEAPOLIS) - The Minneapolis Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred in the 2000 block of 3rd Avenue South.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. on August 7, 2026, Fifth Precinct officers responded to reports of gunfire. Additional callers reported that a person had been shot.
Officers located a man in his 30s inside a vehicle with life-threatening gunshot wounds. Officers immediately provided lifesaving care. Despite lifesaving efforts by officers and EMS personnel, the man died at the scene.
Officers secured the scene and canvassed the area.
MPD Forensic Scientists processed the scene and collected evidence.
MPD Homicide investigators are working to determine the sequence of events that led to the shooting.
There have been no arrests.
