Minneapolis Police investigate an early morning homicide

April 2, 2026 (MINNEAPOLIS) –Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara announced that an early morning shooting killed one man.

 Fourth Precinct Officers responded to a reported shooting near 31 Av N and 4 Av shortly after 1:18 a.m. on April 2, 2026.  A 911 caller reported hearing a single gunshot followed by a person yelling for help.

Officers located a man in the street with a life-threatening gunshot wound. Officers immediately provided medical aid. The injured man was transported by ambulance to Hennepin Healthcare where he later died.

Officers secured the scene and canvassed the area.   Minneapolis Police Forensic Scientists processed the scene and collected evidence.

Investigators are working to determine the circumstances that led up to the shooting.
