MPD is investigating the death of a young woman struck by a vehicle

March 23, 2026 (MINNEAPOLIS) –Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara announced the death of a young woman after she was tragically struck by a vehicle while crossing the street on Saturday night. 

On Sunday, March 22nd, at approximately 3:10 in the morning, Second Precinct officers responded to a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian on the 1600 Block Marshall St Ne

Officers identified a woman in her 20s with potentially life-threatening injuries. She was transported to Hennepin Healthcare.

On Monday, March 23rd, MPD was notified that the injured woman died at the hospital. 

Preliminary information indicates the woman was crossing Marshall St. while carrying a bag of food when she was struck by a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.  The vehicle did not stop.

MPD Forensic Scientists and Traffic Investigators processed the scene.
